Meet The Founder
Maurice's passion for positively serving our community has had a transformative impact on numerous individuals, empowering them to make better life choices and decisions. With his unyielding determination and the strength derived from his faith, he will continue to utilize his voice to effect change and transform lives.
Maurice Shahid, the founder of Heaven Sent Second Chance Transitional Safe House, Inc., is a man characterized by courage, hope, and redemption. Despite his past involvement with the criminal justice system, he has transformed his 23-year incarceration into a catalyst for counseling and mentoring at-risk youth and troubled adults, empowering them to be change agents in their own communities that align with the mission of his organization, ending the prison industrial complex farm system.
As a father of three young men and a grandfather of two, Maurice deeply comprehends the significance of reuniting families and communities. Although numerous legal and personal obstacles stood in his path, he exhibited unwavering perseverance during challenging times that would have deterred most individuals. However, his unwavering passion to serve and assist others propelled him to strive for success, enabling him to realize his vision of supporting justice-involved individuals in achieving life-long success.
